Cindy Dalglish – Surrey Students Now

By September 21, 2018September 24th, 2018General

As a continuous advocate, Cindy has established relationships with parents, educators, support staff, administrators, and all levels of government.

Cindy knows that communication is key to good governance and needs to be across not only all levels of government, but also through the channel of parents, educators, support staff, and administrators.

It’s time to listen to the true stakeholders to ensure, not most, but all students get what they need – we need student-centered decision making to be a focus.

As a parent of two young school-age children, Cindy knows the role of Trustee is too important to our children’s education and is ready to take on the responsibility.

As an educator in post-secondary, both as an instructor and in curriculum development, Cindy understands the importance of a great educational foundation. As an engaged community member, Cindy listens to the community, while understanding the responsibility of financial governance.

Cindy is the Chair and a founding member of Surrey Students NOW, Treasurer of both Canadian Parents for French – Surrey Chapter and Panorama Neighbourhood Association. She has an extensive background in both the non-profit, government, and corporate sectors utilizing her Communications degree.
Why we are working together.

When there is a school board meeting, who is there? Charlene and Mary-Em. They show up. They ask the tough questions of the current board from a place of knowledge and understanding.

Charlene brings knowledge as a previous trustee that pairs with her experience in the education system. Mary-Em has experience and knowledge in governance matters and understands the nuances that come with policy making and delivery. Sonia’s ground-level experience with our youth and families is such an asset to the role of trustee. Children in this District will be well-supported with them at the helm.

We believe in student-centered decision making, which I feel is the most important role we play as trustees. And we share a level of respect for each others’ diverse experience that brings us to where we are now.
