Between Pulse Mornings School Trustee and Mayoral Candidates Conversation that took place the last two weeks it’s safe to say I’ve met well over 150 people vying for a position at either the school board table or city hall. While I covered last year’s provincial election at fairly great length working as a reporter for CFJC News in Kamloops, this year’s municipal election has been a whole new level of detail and planning which has allowed me to meet some pretty great people.

Say what you want about politicians and trustees but you can’t deny it takes a great level of commitment and selflessness to run for office. A good majority of the people we’ve interviewed have either a full or part time job. On top of that there’s family life. One of the women running for mayor has seven kids. SEVEN! I can’t find time to brush my teeth in the morning let alone feed seven mouths and run a city!

Whether I agree with their platform or not, whoever “wins” Oct 20th has my utmost respect.

Whether they can hold onto it will be shown over the next four years!
