As we head into the final stretch of voting, the candidates are really starting to sound like parents making promises.

These sweeping statements of “when I’m elected I will…” sound a lot like the promises made before we have kids.

“When I have children, I will keep them on a very rigid sleep schedule… never allow them on screens…  never let them play video games… etc…”

Then, you have children and suddenly life becomes a lot less black and white.  You have to make difficult decisions sometimes and not everyone is going to be happy with those decisions. Standing strong against those with ulterior motives  and dividing beliefs can be challenging, and sometimes you might need to compromise and break promises.

As much research and education we can do on either parenting or running a city, both can get pretty unruly – so we can’t always be sure of what we’re getting into!
