Surrey RCMP is currently investigating a fire and the discovery of a deceased person in the area of 97A Avenue and 137A Street.

On May 24, 2019 at approximately 2:30 am, Surrey Fire Services requested the assistance of Surrey RCMP in response to a fire in a shed at a homeless camp located at 97A Avenue and 137A Street. After the fire was extinguished, Surrey Fire Services personnel discovered a deceased person inside the shed.

The Surrey RCMP Serious Crime Unit has taken conduct of the investigation and will be working with Surrey Fire Services to determine the cause of the fire, as well as the BC Coroner Service to identify the deceased person.
