Pulse of the City: Places To Go, Things To Do

Here are this week’s events for you and your friends and family to enjoy! Keep an eye out for the Pulse FM Street Team, powered by FREEWAY MAZDA.

Worlds of Wonder: Where nature, technology and history come to life, through LEGO® bricks! @ Museum of Surrey
Apr 24 – Sep 8 all-day

Did you know six eight-stud LEGO® bricks can be combined in over 915 million different ways? Wow! Imagine what a couple of million bricks could create.

The feature gallery is being transformed this spring in partnership with the VLC, Vancouver’s Community for Adult Fans of LEGO. Enter Worlds of Wonder and see existence transform before your eyes into creations made of colorful LEGO® bricks.

Which adventure will you choose? Whether nature, technology or history, inspired bricks will tell the story in a way you’ve never seen before. A tornado built of LEGO®? Yup! Take a walk back in time to see dinosaurs or medieval castles. Even visit the International Space Station – all without leaving Surrey.

Tuesday to Saturday Times: 9:30 am to 5:30 pm

Lessons from the Past: Everyday Sustainability @ Museum of Surrey

Whether you’re a recycling guru, eco-worrier, organic food lover or simply a parent who wants to teach your children about the idea of sustainable living, there’s only one place to be on June 1– at Museum of Surrey.

Lessons from the Past: Everyday Sustainability is a free one-day event that runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., offering hands-on fun and inspiring tips for the whole family.

Outside, the plaza will be transformed into Cloverdale’s first-ever eco-themed market, featuring a variety of local vendors, a trade-in clothing booth where visitors can bring in and swap their gently used clothing, a free plant walk and more.

Visitors will also learn about ‘green’ initiatives of the past with the museum’s unique artifact collection, including soap savers and sock darners.

For those who want to purchase a bite to eat, Eat the Dishes – an innovative new food vendor that specializes in plant-based soups and hot chocolate served in edible cups and bowls – will be on site.

This event is part of the City of Surrey’s Environmental Extravaganza– a city-wide series of free environmental programs that runs April 13 to June 9.

Museum of Surrey is located at 17710 56a Ave.
