Surrey’s DIVERSEcity Community Resources Society is receiving extra funding from the Canadian government: $600,000 dollars to help immigrant & refugee women and children fleeing situations involving domestic violence.

It’s a part of the Feds new 3 million dollar announcement to help survivors of Gender Based Violence in Canada get back on their feet.

Minister of Women and Gender Equality Maryam Monsef made the announcement in Surrey this week.

She says that according to the latest eye-opening statistics, every 6 days a woman is killed in Canada (which may involve her current or ex-partner) as a result of domestic violence.
