Today’s Flashback song was originally from Frankie Valli back in 1967.  However our version of “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” was by Lauren Hill which came out in 1998. This song is definitely a contender for one of the most covered of all time. It has been done by Engelbert Humperdinck, Diana Ross & the Supremes, The Temptations, Julio Iglesias and Gloria Gaynor to name a few.

Lauryn’s version doesn’t use horns in the transition like the original, she uses a mix of organ and vocal stabs. Bob Gaudio who is one of the co-writers of the song was really impressed with her version so much so that he said “I love the record, it’s one of my favorite versions.”

It made it to #2 on the Rhythmic Top 40 Charts in the US and garnered Hill a nomination for a Grammy in the Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
