Today’s flashback was “La Isla Bonita” meaning “The Beautiful Island” in English. This song was from Madonna’s third album back in 1986,  it also was her first song to contain Latino influences. “La Isla Bonita” received mostly positive reviews from critics and from myself as well.

Interestingly though, the instrumental version of the song was first offered to Michael Jackson before Madonna both accepted it and wrote the lyrics and melody. I think Michael would have done a great job as well but we will never know.

The music video was stunning, and I mean who can forget that red flamenco dress, which as we know became a big trend.  The track topped the charts in Canada, Austria,  France, Germany, Iceland, and Switzerland while reaching the top five in Belgium, Ireland, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, and the United States.
