Bruce Ralston, Minister of Jobs, Trade and Technology, has issued the following statement on the release of Statistics Canada’s Labour Force Survey for May 2019:

“This month’s Labour Force Survey results demonstrate that the British Columbia economy is holding strong and steady. More people are working in B.C. than ever before and we are providing the services people need while maintaining a balanced budget.

“For the 22nd consecutive month, B.C. has the lowest unemployment rate in the country at 4.3%. We have added 107,100 jobs in the province since last year, most of which are full time and in the private sector.

“And the economy is expected to keep growing – to the benefit of British Columbians. Private sector forecasters project that growth in our province will continue to outpace the rest of Canada.

“By investing in people, we are building a strong, sustainable economy for today and the future.”
