A man has been arrested and charged with second degree murder in connection with the homicide of Anida Magaya.

On October 5, 2018 at about 1:51 a.m., emergency services received a report of an injured female at a residence in the 16100-block of 110 Avenue in Surrey, B.C.  When police arrived, they found 42-year-old Anida Magaya dead inside the home with injuries consistent with homicide.  The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) was called in to take over the investigation.

Detectives quickly determined that this was an isolated incident and there was no risk to public safety.  Since the initial deployment, IHIT and its partners have diligently collected and compiled all the evidence for charge approval consideration to crown counsel.

On October 19, 2018, Anida Magaya’s 44-year-old husband, Rizig Bona, was arrested and charged with second degree murder for her death. Mr. Bona will appear before a judge in B.C. Provincial Court on October 22, 2018.
