The sun crosses over the equator twice in a year. At the time of each equinox day and night are the same length at the Northern and Southern Hemispheres . If it’s March 20th then it must be spring, one of the 4 seasons! You know Frankie Valli, Jersey Boys, et al? And, even though we lost an hour of sleep the days will begin to get longer. It’s these tilts in the earth’s axis that differentiate between the seasons, it’ll happen again at Summer, June 21st and one more time for autumn.  According to The Weather Network we can expect cooler than normal temperatures during the first half of spring, but if you like boarding the mountains will also likely extend their season. Perfect timing for spring break. The Old Farmers Almanac predicts slightly warmer temperatures and slightly less precipitation. How do they know this? My dear old mother likes to remind me frequently that there isn’t much, if anything we can do about the weather. That we should just take each day as it comes and be thankful we live here and not some cringe worthy despot where they only know one or two seasons. All I want is a forecast that delivers beyond my wildest hopes and expectations. Is that too much to ask? So, tomorrow on Pulse Mornings we’ve invited Greg Pearce to offer his prognostications for this spring through the lens and computer models at Environment Canada. By the time we’re done we will either be really confused or better yet have a really good idea as what to expect for the rest of spring break and the reason for the rest of the season. Welcome to Spring 2018, let’s all play nice for mom and nature and enjoy another trip around the sun.
