Winds were so strong today that the White Rock Pier snapped in half this afternoon.
One person was also rescued after being stranded on one side of the waterfront structure.
A search and rescue helicopter was dispatched to the area.
Marine Drive in White Rock has been shut down till further notice,
with police and fire crews on the scene.
