In honour of it being National Vegetable Day, it’s time to pay homage to the humble yet healthy vegetable. With there being so many farmer’s markets to choose from south of the Fraser, we decided to break it down for you – in no particular order, here are the best farmer’s markets you can get south of the Fraser!

1. Mary’s Garden

Mary’s Garden in South Surrey has been in business since 1966, and there is no question it’s because of the amazing produce quality from this family business. There’s something for everyone here, and everything is always picked fresh daily!

2. Driediger Farms

Another local business that has been around since the ’60s, Driediger Farms prides themselves in being one of the go-to places south of the Fraser for delicious BC berries. They offer a U-Pick service as well for a great activity for the whole family.

3. Cloverdale Country Farms

Cloverdale Country Farms only source their produce from local BC farms, and have tons of seasonal, organic options available. Along with fresh produce, they also have a garden centre, deli, and grocery section. This is a great option for people needing a one-stop shop!

4. Surrey Urban Farmers Market

Surrey Urban Farmers Market has a variety of different vendors and is located in the heart of downtown Surrey. It curates fantastic produce from local BC farmers, and on top of this, hosts weekly live music, children’s activities, entertainment, community workshops, and more. This is an awesome place to visit for young families – entertain your kids while getting your shopping done!

5. Langley Community Farmers Market

This unique farmers market is located in the courtyard of the Langley Kwantlen campus, featuring a variety of different vendors. Their mission is to follow the “make it, bake it, grow it” mantra, and giving us better access to locally grown, healthy, and fresh food sources. Now that’s a cause we can get behind!

6. BCB Honey Farm

Once you’ve tasted this honey, you’ll never be able to go back! This family-owned business has been around since 2003. Founded by Dr. Tabari, their goal is to aid in the issue of the steadily declining bee population. They have thousands of hives all across the lower mainland, with bees pollinating many different crops. This has resulted in a variety of different types of honey to choose from!

7. Surrey Farms

Surrey Farms is a fantastic U-Pick option for people wanting to pick fresh berries with their family. They also often have fresh fruit from the Okanagan when it is seasonally available!

8. White Rock Farmers' Market

White Rock Farmers’ Market offers tons of different varieties of vendors – in addition to fresh fruits and vegetables, they also have vendors that offer artisan bread, cheeses, clothing, honey, and tons of other gourmet foods. With such a huge variety, White Rock Farmers Market is a great place to head over to when you want to have some fun and food!

9. Willoughby Family Farm Market

Willoughby Family Farm Market, located in the heart of Langley, is family owned and operated. They have tons of fresh BC fruits and vegetables, homemade pies, and they even have Smokey the Miniature Horse on-site! This is a great place to get your kids involved in picking out produce, all while getting to experience an adorable animal!

10. Clayton Community Farmer’s Market

Held in the parking lot of Clayton Heights Secondary School, this community farmers market boasts numerous vendors, tons of activities, and a family fun zone – making this an awesome place to for a fun day out with the kids! They free have face painting, arts and crafts, as well as tons of fresh produce options – giving something for everyone that tags along in the family.
