Just three months to go until the federal election Prime Minister Justin Trudeua made a rather surprise visit to the Surrey Sport and Leisure Complex in Fleetwood on Saturday to chat with parents about the financial pressures and other challenges they’re facing, at the same time announcing increases to ‘The Canada Child Benefit’ program.

The benefit to parents with children under the age of 18 will increase this Saturday, July 20, upping the maximum benefit to $6,639 for each child under the age of six and $5,602 for each child between the ages of six and 17.

According to the Surrey-Now Leader, the media wasn’t able to ask questions and couldn’t stay for further discussion.

Pictures @JustinTrudeau on Twitter also show him chatting with homeowners in Newton on what their biggest parental concerns are, financially and otherwise.
