WHO WOULD YOU BE VOTING FOR, AND HOW WOULD I CONTRIBUTE IN A HANDS ON APPROACH FOR OUR SCHOOLS, STUDENTS AND PARENTS.
I WOULD UTILIZE MY WORK EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL TRAINING AS AN ASSET FOR THE SCHOOL BOARD, TRUSTEES AND STUDENTS .
I was born in B,C, I am the youngest of 4 children, I have my own three adult children and three Grandchildren. I have lived in Langley 13 years, my grandchildren attend a City of Langley Elementary school.
I joined the Canadian Armed Forces when I was 17 years old and served our country for 7 years. I continued in a similar field as a Corrections Officer. I started in Alberta then headed to B.C., I once again started working in the Corrections environment.
At a later date, I returned to school Graduating from the POLICE ACADEMY ( INVESTIGATION AND ENFORCEMENT SKILLS PROGRAM)
HOW WOULD I USE THIS WORK BACKGROUND AND EDUCATIONTO SECURE THE SAFETY OF OUR STUDENTS?
With recent SECURITY THREATS at the LANGLEY SECONDARY AND ALSO BROOKSWOOD SECONDARY the threats are evident. I would liaise closely with the RCMP and other GOVERNMENTS AGENCIES including security experts in the field, Together we would work on and develop any Enhanced Security we would initiate for the protection of ourSTUDENTS and STAFF.
After my years in this position I left, deciding to stay home with my children.
During this time, while my childern were attending school I was involved with their PAC at different levels, including the PAC President and later a DPAC Rep..
My children were in the SURREY TRADITIONAL SCHOOL (similar to the ( LANGLEY FUNDAMENTAL SCHOOL) This was a PARENT DRIVEN SCHOOL, Parents brought this idea to the SURREY SCHOOL BOARD and it was later accepted. Once initiated I was deeply involved in the continuing development of the school environment. I was interviewed by the many radio shows and write ups in magazines, I am friendly to media and BELIEVE IN OPEN DIALOGUE.
I am open to the thought of CHOICE SCHOOLS.
Continuing being involved in the children’s school district I was a member of the CHILD AND YOUTH PROSTITUTION TASK FORCE hosted by the ATTORNEY GENERALS DEPT.

How does this TRAINING AND WORK TRANSLATE TO THE NEEDS AND UNDERSTANDING OF STUDENTS?
I believe I could ENHANCE THE SCHOOL BOARD in understanding parents needs as well as children’s perceptions . Aware of the students challenges due to divorce or parent separation. I would like to see MORE COUNSELORS employed who are also trained in these areas to be available to our students in this CITY snd District. Also to engage other agencies that offer support in these areas. When students have to deal with a separation it can have direct effect on their schooling. LETS NOT LET THE STUDENTS SLIP THROUGH THE CRACKS
The last few years I have been involved with my Grandchildren and in the Film Industry, As my grandchildren grow I have decided that I should put my name forward as a SCHOOL TRUSTEE in this 2018 election for the CITY OF LANGLEY.
I believe I have important skills and knowledge to become a great team member in this SCHOOL DISTRICT REPRESENTING the CITY OF LANGLEY.
