News came down Friday that the Province has sent a bill of 1.25 million dollars to ICBC.

The bill covers work done after a truck driver slammed into the 152nd overpass on Highway 99 on December 4th, 2017.

If you recall that area was affected for 3 months while the repairs took place. Businesses in the area lost a lot of money, not to mention those who were inconvenienced by detours and 152nd closed northbound for the repairs. And as of today, the Province says every other driver in the province gets to foot the bill.

WHAT???

The driver of the truck was fined $115 by the Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement (CVSE) for being, ‘non-compliant’ and for not conforming with the required load dimensions to be on the highway. The Police also fined the driver $368 and 6 points.

He has been taken off the road but his trucking company received no penalty whatsoever.

And we get to pay for it all.

Makes sense, right?
