I love Halloween, I have ever since I was a kid! Every year at my elementary school we would have a parade on Halloween and every class would walk around the gym showing off their costumes. My mom and I would spend a month planning my costume because I looked so forward to it! So when I read a couple stories this week of a few schools in the US cancelling their Halloween costume parades and saying “it can be difficult for many students, also the parade is not inclusive of all the students and it is our goal each and every day to ensure all student’s individual differences are respected.” this really upsets me.  It just seems to be made into a political issue which it shouldn’t be at all, one school has actually changed the day to “Black and Orange Day.” Wow.

At my school if a kid didn’t want to dress up they didn’t have to and they could just sit out and not take part in the parade. It just seems like we are making this world less fun for kids when in this day and age they really need some fun. I know a younger me would have been very upset if they cancelled my Halloween parade. Let kids be kids, they don’t see the political side in anything so please stop forcing them too.
