This weekend saw me working the phones. Yes, you read it right, the phone. It’s a handy little device that is so rarely used as its namesake. It is, after all, a phone, albeit a smart phone at that.

It started Friday afternoon. Last of the week, late in the day with so many people to reach out to. Time is always of the essence and if not time, certainly timing. So away I went madly calling by phone all of the people on my list. Did I mention we were at the starting line of a well deserved weekend. By now everyone has fallen into a fall routine, heck it’s the end of September, and everyone it seems just wants to bust loose this weekend. So, you’ll appreciate everyone I called not only answered their phone, but were quick to engage and be long winded like a good autumn storm. Late afternoon/evening I spoke to several candidates running for a municipal seat and some others who simply like to observe politics for sport. Though it didn’t take much to get an earful of opinion from the observers too.

Chatting with a few people was fun. It reminded me when we talk to each other one to one on such a basic plane the connection is very real. Nothing got lost or tossed about by a vast cold wasteland of digital artifacts. The fact remains most of 98% of my daily connections are on some digital platform. And, in 98% of the time it works just fine. We even send Snapchats and PMs and dare I admit emails down the hall in the office. So much for FaceTime! Or Ear Time for that matter. Ha!

It’s just as easy to get swept away during an election as it is to completely ignore it. Your time is far too precious. We respect that. There’s so many ways and choices of even where to access information. At 107.7 Pulse FM we are keenly aware just how overwhelming the election cycle can be. That is why we have broken it down into a series of conversations, and none too long, Last week Pulse Mornings spoke to School Trustee candidates from Surrey, Delta, Langley City, Township of Langley—all surprisingly casual and candid.

This week we begin a new series on Pulse Politics, conversations with Mayoral Candidates from Coquitlam, Port Moody, Maple Ridge, Delta, Township of Langley, Langley City, Surrey and New Westminster at 7:30am Monday through Friday. We intend this to be an opportunity to get to know the candidates in a quick and easily digestible way.

And, don’t forget to let us know what you think on Twitter and Facebook. Or, just give us a call 778-574-1077 …like on the phone. Really. We’re always happy to hear from you! Be part of the conversation. make a well informed decision. And, please vote October 20th or at any of the advance polls.
