Have you heard about the conservation efforts being done at the Greater Vancouver Zoo in Aldergrove?

Bet you didnt know that the zoo saves “Western Painted Turtle” eggs from dangerous locations in the Lower Mainland,
and then keeps them in a safe environment at the zoo, until the hatchlings are big enough to survive in the wild.

Sweet right?

If you’ve never seen a Western Painted Turtle, what makes them unique is that each hatchling has a different pattern on its belly!

The next time you visit the Greater Vancouver Zoo, make sure to ask them about “Shell Notching”,  its how they keep track of the turtles once they’re released into the wild.

And dont forget to pick up a “We’ve Got Your Back” Tshirt when you donate $10 or more to the Greater Vancouver Zoo Conservation Fund.
