Drivers are advised that the speed limit will be reduced and two lanes will be closed on the Alex Fraser Bridge beginning Tuesday, July 23, 2019, in order for crews to remove painted lines and install temporary markers for the northbound lanes.

To accommodate the additional lane of traffic for the upcoming seven-lane counter-flow system, the lanes will be reduced in width from approximately 3.7 metres to 3.55 metres (about a six-inch reduction). To help keep travellers safe and traffic flowing efficiently during counter-flow, the speed limit on the bridge will be permanently lowered from 90 kilometres per hour to 70 kilometres per hour.

Work is expected to take three nights to complete. As this work is weather-dependent, for the most up-to-date highway travel information, people should continue to check @DriveBC on Twitter and: DriveBC.ca

After the August long weekend, crews will return to transition the southbound lanes and paint permanent lane lines.
