On Nov. 11, just before 5 p.m., police were called to the 10700-block of 124 Street on the report of a disturbance.

The area is home to a Khalsa school (Old Yale Road campus), truck parking and scrap collectors, along with a small number of homes.

When police arrived, they found an adult male suffering from critical injuries. All attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.
RCMP Staff Sgt. Joe Johal said in a press release that investigators do not believe the attack leading to the fatality was random, nor do they think it was linked to gang activity.

The area was cordoned off for some time, and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken over the case.
