Saturday Sept. 29, BC Liquor Stores will hold its annual release of highly prized Bordeaux wines.

“The 2015 vintage of Bordeaux in this year’s release is one of the best in years, thanks to an excellent growing season,” said Barbara Philip, master of wine, category manager for BC Liquor Stores. “Comparable to the top 2009 and 2010 vintages, it’s sure to be a heavy favourite for collectors.”

This year BC Liquor Stores has more than doubled the number of stores participating since last year and will have 170 products available in 30 stores around the province.

According to Philip, buyers from across Canada and around the globe make an effort to visit B.C. for the annual Bordeaux release. The Liquor Distribution Branch, which operates BC Liquor Stores, enjoys allocations of top-end product, thanks to its reputation of working only with trusted négociants and châteaux.

“The selection we’re offering includes rare wines from one of the world’s most famous wine-producing regions, as well as affordable purchases that you can lay down or gift,” said Philip.

Since many wines have limits on the number of bottles that can be purchased, she is advising shoppers to arrive early in order to avoid disappointment.

Collectors and customers purchased nearly $3 million worth of Bordeaux wines in just two days during last year’s release. This year, keen buyers are expected to camp out overnight to be first in line at 39th and Cambie to get best selection of these exclusive wines. BC Liquor Stores (BCLS) will have up-to-date information on selection and inventory on its website, where you can download the BCLS app: http://www.bcliquorstores.com/
