Tomorrow marks the beginning of The Chinese or Lunar New Year – The Year of the Dog. There are 12 animals in the Chinese zodiac and you can determine what animal you represent in the corresponding year with a simple internet search. The problem with being a dog is the baggage they carry. For example, during the Year of Dog, if this is yours, you may suffer from sub-par health and body condition. Even though “the dog” feels exhausted because of the high pressure from work, dogs should balance well their health condition and career. On the upside, the dog is Valiant, loyal, responsible, clever, courageous, lively and social. Think of all the great traits of your own dog. When I spoke to Feng Shui (pronounced; feng shway) expert Anjie Cho she advised I get a lucky rabbit’s foot to counter or balance the negative with the positive. Then you combine the 12-zodiac cycles with the 5-element cycle to determine the kind of dog you are. In my case, I got off easy with personality traits that are said to be persistent, meticulously attentive, with good fortune in wealth. It’s fun, in most cases to see how you relate to these explanations and if they are true. In the end, the most important thing seems to be a balance – balance in all aspects of your lie. That, as far as I can tell, is what Feng Shui is all about; Ying and Yang. In another word, balance. Happy New Year to You! Gung Hay Fat Choy!
