With summer officially upon us, BC Hydro’s come out with some ‘cool’ (sorry, had to) tips on keeping your home cooler!
They are –
1) Prevent solar heat on your home – putting blinds over your windows can reduce solar gain by more than 50 per cent.
2) Resist the temptation to leave your windows open all day. Wait until the temperature is cooler outside, and if you aren’t sure, use a thermometer, or just wait til the suns goes down to open all the windows.
3) Place a face next to your window at night to bring the cool evening air in as well set ceiling fans to rotate counter-clockwise to generate a downward cooling breeze.
