Bad news/Good News scenario. First the bad – We have an asteroid heading for us. And it is a big hunk of rock. Said to be the size of a small village. That’s the bad. The Good? There’s only a 1 in 2,700 chance it will collide with our planet, and even if it does it won’t until 2135. More bad news. Those aren’t exactly astronomical odds. So a combined effort by multiple agencies including NASA are looking into some sort of plan – just in case. Part of that plan includes the designing of a spacecraft that can carry a nuclear warhead. The astroid is named Bennu, and if were to hit the earth it was hit at a force that would be 23 times bigger than a hydrogen bomb blast. It would do a lot of damage. Astronomers and scientists are watching it’s progress and again, plans are already being made – just in case.
