At approximately 9:00 pm on Monday, April 1, Surrey RCMP received a report of shots fired in the 15300 block of 102A Street. Witnesses reported seeing a blue sedan fleeing the area. A short time later, Surrey RCMP received numerous 911 calls reporting a serious multi-vehicle collision involving a blue sedan near 156 Street and 100 Avenue.
Surrey RCMP Frontline and Gang Enforcement officers, along with the Integrated Police Dog Service, quickly attended and secured both scenes. Officers located one man with apparent gun shot injuries, and a second man with serious injures which are believed to be a result of the collision. Both of these males were transported to hospital in serious condition.
Three other males were located at or near the collision scene and taken into custody. All five of these individuals are currently detained by police for investigative purposes. Firearms were located and seized at the scene of the collision.
The investigation is still in its early stages, but initial indications are that this is a targeted incident related to the ongoing Lower Mainland gang conflict. Although there was a risk to public safety as these events unfolded, there are no indications of a continued risk to the public as a result of this incident.
