Each school day, the Surrey School District works with community donors to provide nutritious food to as many hungry children as possible at lunch and breakfast. These meals are vital so students remain energized and focused while learning and playing.

The Surrey School Meal Program provides breakfast to children in need at more than 60 schools and programs, while lunch is provided at 27 sites. More than 3,800 meals are served each day of the school year.

Breakfast is prepared on site and is compromised of milk, fruit, cheese, yogurt, cereal, eggs and toast. Lunch typically consists of milk or 100% fruit juice, a sandwich or similar entree, and fruit or simple dessert.

When hungry students are able to access nutritious food at school they are better prepared to learn, come to school regularly, and are more relaxed and happier.

Unfortunately, there are not enough funds currently available to feed all the students who would benefit from the Meal Programs. With the help of donors, we are eager to expand the meal programs to support an estimated additional 500 students who need a meal each day. It costs $1.00/day to provide a nutritious breakfast and $2.68/day for a healthy lunch.

Please consider donating to the Surrey School Meals Program to support children in your community.

A tax receipt will be provided for all donations of $25 or more. 100% of donated funds are used to purchase food for hungry students- all staffing and administration costs are covered by the Surrey School District. The Surrey School District is committed to working with community partners, businesses and individuals to give our students every opportunity possible for success.
