Independent Candidates for White Rock City Council Christian Lane and Jeffery Simpson are teaming up to host two Coffee House Conversation events at Laura’s Coffee Corner for White Rock voters. The pair are looking to hear from voters about the issues that matter to them, in a casual laid back discussion of the city’s future.

I believe White Rock has a bright future ahead that includes more open, transparent and accountable representation,” Lane said, “and that begins with being accessible and listening to the residents and business owners”.

I know what issues are important to me, my family and the White Rock citizens I’ve spoken with,” Simpson said, “but if I’m elected to council I want to be hearing from everyone in White Rock. So this is a great way to get out of my bubble and meet people who have real concerns with how the city is being run that aren’t being addressed.”

While the two candidates do not agree on every issue, they both feel that what’s needed in White Rock is a new city council made up of independents.

There are a lot of important issues facing the city this election,” Simpson said, “and I don’t feel that we’re going to get the vital debates that need to happen occurring if city hall remains a block vote where one party can decide issues before the meeting even starts.”

We’ve got an opportunity, with this election, to kick big city politics out of our city by the sea,” said Lane, “by electing strong, independent candidates with a positive vision to lead White Rock into the future”.

The Coffee House Conversations are on Saturday September 29th from 2 pm to 4 pm and Saturday October 13th from 1 pm to 3 pm at Laura’s Coffee Corner (#2-15259 Pacific Ave White Rock).
