Saturday’s Municipal Elections are now done, and I find myself wondering why anyone would want to get into that rat-race. Yes, I said it, a “rat-race.”

Rats Racing to be elected to the role of municipal leader – Mayorship.

Perhaps I’m just a little jaded because of an incredibly rude campaign manager, but even experiencing the victors celebration at a local Banquet Hall Saturday night, it made me want to go home and have a shower to wash all of the slime off.

That room was filled with some people who looked like they just won the lottery. And although I don’t have the proof, why Surrey’s new mayor didn’t come in holding up a Rubber Stamp surprised me to no end. But it looks like most of the contractors in the room already know that they are going to get rich.

At what cost to taxpayers?

The long-term plan is to boot the RCMP out of Surrey for it’s own municipal force. It will take some time and only time will tell if Surrey really has outgrown the RCMP.

No parking at City Hall or at any Hospital is a wonderful idea. That’s also in the cards so we were told.

Scrapping LRT for Skytrain seems stupid as everything is already in place and ready to go.

When will we see it Skytrain built?

Will the federal government still commit to the budget?

So many questions to have answered, unfortunately the mayor elect wasn’t available yesterday.

His first unofficial day on the job.
