Grandview Heights Aquatic Centre in Surrey has become one of the first aquatics facilities in the country to receive the “RHF Accessibility Certified Gold” standing from the Rick Hansen Foundation.

The facility is being recognized for its inclusivity, which can been seen through their portable lifts, ramped access to the pools, changing benches with ceiling lifts, and universally accessible change rooms and showers, among others.

This week, they also opened their first aquatics “sensory friendly space” which comes with decreased levels of lighting, sound, and smell, especially helpful for those with autism.
