This year will be my second year as a vegetarian on Thanksgiving. I will be honest, it is not easy, the smells of the yummy food when I go through the front door are unbelievable.  We usually go to my cousins place for Thanksgiving and they are all meat eaters, I am the only vegetarian. I have actually only eaten chicken and fish since I was 15 years old and last year around this time I finally declared myself vegetarian. It is an animal thing for me, I love animals. I get asked why I made the change many times and that is the reason why. I don’t judge others that eat meat, I just know for me this is what I choose to do and I feel good about it.

So my cousins are amazing cooks, and the stuff they whip up can be truly amazing. I however didn’t get the cooking gene, somehow it missed me. I now have to bring my own food to our family get togethers or I eat all the yummy sides that have no meat in them. Sometimes I can make a whole meal out of them but this year I am going switch things up.

No tofu, no pasta, nope it will be vegetarian sushi. So while my family enjoys their turkey, which I know they will, I will be dipping my sushi in wasabi and soya sauce. Don’t feel bad for me, this is the life I have chosen. I also love sushi so it really is a win/win.

Next year I hope to vegan so watch out, it will be an interesting Thanksgiving dinner!
