Having more than one of the same gender is supposed to help save money so you can use handmedowns.
This works for a little while – IF they’re in the right season. When they’re outgrowing things within weeks, they don’t get much of a chance to wear it out, though they might get it stained pretty easily!
As they get bigger, kids can be rough on their clothes. I convinced myself the distressed look was in to recycle jeans for my second or sometimes cut them into jean shorts. (No, they did not make it down to the third).
Shoes in particular are painful because as they get older, they get more and more expensive – and it’s extremely painful when your child graduates into adult-sized feet! I’m lucky that my kids are not as into shoes as some might be, and we definitely get our money’s worth out of them!
